Jonathon was born on February 16th, 1782 in Guilford, NC. Jonathon's father was Joseph Mills and his mother was Hannah Maris. His paternal grandparents were John+ Mills and Sarah+ Beals. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Hezekiah, John, Joseph Maris, Jane, Anna and Sarah. He was the oldest of the seven children.
