Marie Dorothea Von was born in 1684. Marie Dorothea Von's father was Friedrich Kasimir Von Kurland and her mother was Sophie Amalie Von Nassau-Siegen. Her paternal grandparents were Jakob Von Kurland and Luise Charlotte Von Hohenzollern; her maternal grandparents were Heinrich Von Nassau-Siegen and Maria Magdalena Von Limburg-Styrum. She had two sisters named Eleonore Charlotte Von and Amalie Luise Von. She was the oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother named Friedrich Wilhelm Von.
