Thomas was born about 1512 in Ashwell Thorpe, Norfolk, England. Thomas' father was Thomas+ Howard and his mother was Agnes+ Tilney. His paternal grandparents were John+ Howard and Catherine+ Moleyns; his maternal grandparents are Hugh+ Tilney and Elizabeth+ Taillebois. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Isabel and Dorothy+. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Edward, Thomas, Edmund William, Muriel, Elizabeth and Anne. "There is no evidence to support John HOWARD and Elizabeth LOCK, having a son Matthew. Their marriage date and the birth dates of their known children would make it highly unlikely that Matthew of VA (my note: Sources show Matthew born in England) was a child of this couple. There is also no evidence to support that John's father Robert HOWARD was a child of Lord Thomas HOWARD and Lady Margaret DOUGLAS. The foundation of the theory by James E. Moss (originator of the theory) was based on a 1714 coat of arms purporting to show they had a child. Moss' interpretation was based on a false premise, and no relation between the HOWARD and DOUGLAS families is implied by that arms. Further details under HOWARD-DOUGLAS theory at above site."
So, we have a "conflict"; this line will need further research.
