His paternal grandparents were Friedrich Wilhelm III Von Hohenzollern and Luise Von Mecklenburg-Strelitz; his maternal grandparents were Carl Friedrich Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach and Maria Romanov-Holstein-Gottorp.
