Nathan was born on March 15th, 1831 in McLean Co., IL. Nathan's father was Simon Hinshaw and his mother was Rebecca Hobson. His paternal grandparents are Thomas Hinshaw and Rebecca Marshall; his maternal grandparents were Charles Hobson and Sarah Beck. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Zeno, Charles, Thomas, Enan, John, Phebe, Morilla and Delilah. He is the youngest of the nine children.General Notes
