Sigtrygg was born about 0889 in Norway.  Sigtrygg's father was Harald I+ Halfdansson and his mother is Ragnhild Gyda Eriksdotter.  His paternal grandfather was Halfdan+ Gudrodsson and his paternal grandmother is Raginhild+ Sigurdsdotter. He had four brothers named Erik, Rorek, Frode and Thorgils. He had six half-brothers named Bjorn, Olaf+, Regner, Godfrey+, Halfdan Hakon and Sigurd.
