John was born about 1188 in Ireland. John's father was Thomas Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald and his mother was Elinor De Marsico. His paternal grandfather was Maurice+ Fitzgerald and his paternal grandmother is Alice+ Montgomery; his maternal grandfather is Jordan De+ Marsico. He was an only child. He died on July 23rd, 1261 in Battle of Callan in Desmond, by his son-in-law, Fineen MacCarthy Mor. He was buried in 1261 in Dominican Abbey, Tralee, Ireland.General Notes
