James was born on July 10th, 1724. James' father was James Douglas-Hamilton and his mother was Anne Cochrane. His paternal grandparents were James Douglas-Hamilton and Elizabeth Gerard. He had a half-brother named Archibald. He died at the age of 33 on January 18th, 1758.General Notes
