Her paternal grandparents were Pierre I De Courtenay+ Capet and Isabelle De+ Courtenay; her maternal grandparents were Baudouin V De+ Hainaut and Marguerite De+ Lorraine. She had a brother and five sisters, named Baudouin II De+, Elizabeth De+, Yolande De+, Agnes De, Marie De and Eleonore De+. She was the oldest of the seven children.
