Arabella was born about 1648 in Devonshire, England. Arabella's father was Winston Churchill and her mother is Elizabeth Drake. Her paternal grandparents are John Churchill and Sarah Winston; her maternal grandparents were John Drake and Helene Butler. She had a brother named John. She was the older of the two children.
