Courtland was born on March 8th, 1813 in Clinton, NY. Courtland's father was Samuel Butler and his mother was Judith Livingstone. His maternal grandparents were Gilbert Livingstone and Susannah Lewis. He was an only child. He died at the age of 78 on August 9th, 1891 in Columbus, OH.General Notes
