George Oswell Buchanan 
George Oswell was born in 1763 in Near Edinburgh, Scotland. George Oswell's father was Alexander Buchanan and his mother was Margaret Oswell. His paternal grandfather is William Alexander Buchanan. He was an only child. He died at the age of 92 on December 16th, 1855 in Waterford, Washington Co., OH.General Notes

"George went to school in Edinburgh until he was fourteen years old when he came to America with his parents in 1777. He married Elizabeth Worden of Providence Rhode Island and located on a farm at Fonda, Montgomery Co., N.Y. and afterwards moved to Fabius, Onandaga Co. , N.Y. A few years before he died he moved to Ohio and died at his son Jeffrey's, four miles southwest of Beverly, Ohio where he and his wife were both buried.[buchanan.FTW]Family Tree Maker - Volume #1; pedigree #1852.

(Urbana, Illinois) a descendent. - George Oswell Buchanan was the third child.
Had purchased a fine farm near Fonda, New York (Montgomery County) with the help of his father, and was successful. Later formed a partnership with a man (Dill) to buy cattle, and mortgaging his farm to obtain the money, proved a failure to leave him in financial ruin. - In 1800 he moved to Herkimer County in New York , and after a few years he moved again to Febius Onondaga County, New York. After several years of hard work to restore his fortune he left New York for Blue Rock, Ohio (Muskingum County).
January 24, 1840 - moved to Joy, Ohio on Federal Creek; just below the mill on the east side of the creek. 1850 - moved to near Waterford, Ohio to live with his son Jeffery Wilcox Buchanan, where they both died and are buried 3 1/2 miles southwest of
