Alexander Buchanan 
Alexander was born in 1736 in Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland. Alexander's father is William Alexander Buchanan. His paternal grandparents are Thomas Buchanan and Jean X. He was an only child. He died in New York City, U.S.A..General Notes

"After Alexander and Margeret married in 1758, they located near Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1777 he came with his family of four children to America landing at New York City. He located on a farm near Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., NY where he and his family lived until they both died and buried there.[buchanan.FTW] Came to America in 1777 from Glasgow, Scotland and settled in Herkimer County on a farm in New York State ("The History of Buchanan of Scotch Descent" by: Will E. Buchanan, (Urbana, Illinois) a descendent.) "He continued to wear his KILTS after he came to this country, which displeased his wife because she thought he should be like an American now that he had adopted the United States as his home. He also attended the "conclaves" regularly, and he was an active member of the Buchanan Clan. He was a Free Mason and joined while in Scotland, and attended the
Lodge regularly while he was in New York. Was a very tall and straight man and fine looking, and had black hair and
dark blue eyes. He was of a very jovial disposition and would not let trouble bother him."
