Curtis was born on April 28th, 1779 in New Garden Mm, Guilford, NC. Curtis' father was Daniel Beals and his mother was Suzannah Jackson. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Beals and Sarah Antrim; his maternal grandparents are Samuel Jackson and Catherine Plankinhorn. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Bowater, Jacob, Phebe, Sarah, Elizabeth, Katherine, Rachel and Susannah. He is the third oldest of the nine children.General Notes
