His paternal grandfather was Marquis Oberto II of Savona and Liguria and his paternal grandmother is Beatrice de Ramagnano; his maternal grandfather was Marquis Odelerico Manfredo II of Turin-Albenza and his maternal grandmother is Bertha d'Este. He had two brothers named Manfredo and Anselmo. He died on October 5th, 1125.-
