Adeline was born about 1054 in Nottinghamshire, England.  Adeline's father was Earl Robert de Belleme of Shrewsbury and her mother was Almodis de la Haute Marche.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl Roger de Montgomery of Shrewsbury and Mabel de Talvas de Belleme; her maternal grandfather was Count Bernard I de la Haute Marche and her maternal grandmother is Amelie de Montignac. She had two sisters named Avice and Sibella. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William Talvas Montgomery and Agnes.  She died in England.

‌Adeline and "the Elder" were married in a religious ceremony about 1071.  They had a son and a daughter, named "the Younger" and Adelise.
