Sunifred was born in 0810 in Urgel, Lerida, Spain. Sunifred's father was Count Bello of Carcassone. His paternal grandparents were Count Oliba de Razes I of Carcassone and Richilde von Elmentrude. He was an only child. He died at the age of 38 in 0848.
