Polyhymnia's father is Zeus and her mother is Mnemosyne.  Her paternal grandparents are Chronos and Rhea; her maternal grandparents are Uranus ("himmel") and Gaea ("jord"). She has a sister named Clio. She has twenty half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Herakles, Perseus, Dionysus, Epaphos, Arcas, Pelasgus, Argus, Asopus, Apollo, Ares, Hephaestus, Minos, Aethlius, Orchomenus, Iasion, Lacedaemon, Hermes, Tantalus, Ammon, Aeacus, Eris, Athena, Harmonia, Harmonia, Aphrodite, Lethe and Orseis.
