Thorstein, known as "the Red", was born about 0858 in Dublin, Dublin, Ireland.  "the Red"'s father was King Olof ("the White", "Hviti") Ingjaldsson and his mother was Aud ("the Deep Minded") Ketilsdatter.  His paternal grandfather is King Ingjald ("the White") Helgasson; his maternal grandfather was Ketill ("Flatnefur", "Flatnose") Bjornsson and his maternal grandmother is Ingveld Ketilsdatter.  He was an only child.  He died in 0888 in Hvammi, Dala, Iceland.


"the Red"'s family with Thurid Eyvindsdatter

‌"the Red" and Thurid were married in a religious ceremony about 0868 in Hvammi, Dala, Iceland.  They had two daughters named Groa and Gyoa.
