Alfred was born in 0974. Alfred's father was Ealdorman Ughtred Northumbria of Northumberland and his mother is Eggfrida. His paternal grandfather was Earl Waltheof I of Northumberland and his paternal grandmother is Elfeda; his maternal grandfather was Bishop Aldun of Durham. He had a brother named Aldred. He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Cospatric and Ealdgyth. He died at the age of 65 in 1039.-
