Spotsford Lewis was born on December 16th, 1777 in Powhatan, Virginia. Spotsford Lewis' father was William Moseley and his mother was Ann Lewis. His paternal grandparents were Arthur Moseley and Martha Camp. He was an only child. He died at the age of 73 on February 24th, 1851 in Buckingham, Virginia.General Notes
Spotsford Lewis Moseley was the son of William Moseley and Ann Lewis. Hisfirst wife was Mary Marshall a relative of President John Tyler. Thecouple had 9 children - Ann Lewis, Permelia, Edward Hack, Mary Marshall,William Marshall, Alexander Marshall, Frances, James, and Emeline. Hisson, William Moseley, lived on "Millionaires Row" in Danville, Va. anddonated the money for the Moseley Memorial Methodist Church in Danville.Another son, Alexander Moseley, was a circuit court judge and lived inthe "brick house" at the Buckingham Female Institute.
