(Yaroslav) I 'the Wise', Prince of Kie was born in 0976 in Kiev.1 (Yaroslav) I 'the Wise', Prince of Kie's father was Vladimir 'the Great'' , Czar of Russia and his mother was Rogneda Von Polotzk. His paternal grandparents were Svyatoslav I Suitislaus , Prince of Kiev and Malusha of Lubech; his maternal grandfather is Rognvold Polotzk. He had four sisters named Prince of Polotzk, Premislava of, Prince of Novgorod and Grand Prince Tschernigow. He was the oldest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Svyatoslav, Vysheslav, Dobronegra Mariya, Boris David, Gleb Roman, Sudislav and Pozvizd. He died in Kiev.1 General Notes
Dukes and Tsars
First ruler to consolidate Slavic tribes was Rurik, leader of theRussians who established himself at Novgorod, ad 862. He and hisimmediate successors had Scandinavian affiliations. They moved to Kievafter 972 and ruled as Dukes of Kiev. In 988 Vladimir was converted andadopted the Byzantine Greek Orthodox service, later modified by Slavinfluences. Important as organizer and lawgiver was Yaroslav, 1019-1054,whose daughters married kings of Norway, Hungary, and France. Hisgrandson, Vladimir II (Monomakh), 1113-1125, was progenitor of severalrulers, but in 1169 Andrew Bogolubski overthrew Kiev and began the lineknown as Grand Dukes of Vladimir.

(Yaroslav) I 'the Wise', Prince of Kie and (Anna) Olafsdottir of Sweden were married in a religious ceremony in 1019 in Uppsala, u., Sweden.1 They had five sons and six daughters, named Valdimar 'the, Izyaslav I Dmitrij, I, Prince of Kiev, Svyatopolk II, I, Prince of Kiev, Dobronega of, Dobreonega, Ellisif (Elizabeth), Prince of Smolensk, Anastasiya Agmunda and Prince of Vladimir.
