Maria was born in 1201. Maria's father was Philip II Hohenstaufen , Holy Roman Emperor and her mother was Irini Maria Angelina [Empress of Germ. Her paternal grandparents were Frederick I Barbarossa , Holy Roman Emperor and Beatrix of Burgundy; her maternal grandparents were Isaac II Angelus Emp East Roman and Irene Comnena. She had two sisters named Beatrice (Elizabeth) and Cunegunda. She had four half-sisters named Kunigunde Princess of, Marie, Princess Elizabeth and of Germany. She died at the age of 34 in 1235.-
