Jesse was born on December 27th, 1803 in Chatham, Nc.1 Jesse's father was Isaac Hobson and his mother was Emey Marshill. His maternal grandparents were William Marshall and Rebecca Dixon. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Charles, Simon, William, Isaac, Aaron, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca and Emey. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
