[JOHN, son and heir, called Cam or Crooked. Nothing is known of himexcept that he was father of Thomas the 7th Earl. He was not recognisedas Earl, though he probably survived his father for many years for hisson Thomas was not called Earl until circa 1456.] [Complete PeerageVII:228, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
Note: CP was corrected by vol XIV:441 to indicate that John Cam's father,John the 6th Earl, probably survived until Thomas the 7th Earl'ssuccession in 1456, therefore John Cam may well have preceded him indeath.
Note also: Burke's Peerage has John Cam and his father as one person withtwo marriages. This may well be true, as admitted by CP, however ingoing with two separate Johns, as CP purports, I have kept BP's 2nd wifeof John the 6th Earl and mother of Thomas (Rose Basset) as John Cam'swife and mother of Thomas. In splitting BP's one John with two marriagesinto two separate Johns, I have kept the two wives, one for each of theJohns.
