William de was born about 1200 in Of, , Derbyshire, England.  William de's father was William de Ferrers Earl of Derby and his mother was Agnes De Meschines Lady of Chartley. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Hugh, Robert, Hugh, Sybil, Bertha de and Joane de.  He died on March 24th, 1254 in , Evington, Leicestershire, England.  He was buried on March 31st, 1254 in Merevale Abbey, Merevale, Warwickshire, England.
