Matilda was born in 1035 in Mortaigne, France.1 Matilda's father was Robert II De Belleme 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury and her mother was Adelaide (Heiress) De Breteuil. Her paternal grandparents were Roger De Montgomery Earl of Shrewsburg and Mabel Talvas Countess of Shrewbury; her maternal grandfather was Everard I Count De Breteuil and her maternal grandmother is Humberge Du Puiset. She had two sisters named Sybil and Avise. She was the oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother named III Duke Alencon. She died at the age of 47 in 1082.1 -
