His paternal grandparents were Herluin de Conteville Viscount Conteville and Harlette De Falaise Countess of Mortaigne; his maternal grandparents were Robert II De Belleme 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury and Adelaide (Heiress) De Breteuil. He had four sisters named Agnes, Emma, N.N. and Denise.-
