Richard De Clare 
Richard was born in 1165 in shared barony of Giffard with William Marshal----see notes.1 Richard's father was Richard "Strongbow" 4th Earl De Clare and his mother was Amice FitzRobert , Countess of Goucester. His paternal grandparents were Roger "The Good" 5th Earl de Clare and Maud or Matilda de St. Hilary du Harcouet. He had a brother and two sisters, named Gilbert, Joane and Matilda Maude. He was the oldest of the four children. He had three half-sisters named Isabel FitzGilbert, Joan and Maud (Matilda) De. He died in London.1 General Notes

In 1208 Richard posed a double threat since he welcomed King John's
brother, Richard the Lionhearted tothe throne. Then, when his daughter
married the unfortunate eldest son of William De Braose he was doubly
suspect.
