William Jefferson was born in 1832 in Hall Co., Georgia.1 William Jefferson's father is George B. Underwood and his mother is Flora McCoy. His paternal grandparents were Joseph D. Underwood and Winifred Henderson. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named William Jefferson, George Washington, Andrew Jackson, John Harrison, Nimrod Terrell, J. George, Noah Alexander, Hannah and Harriet. He died at the age of 33 on June 15th, 1865 in Selma, Alabama. He was buried in Pride Cemetery, Colbert Co., Alabama.1 1 General Notes
