Mary Ellen was born on June 14th, 1880 in Hodgenville, LaRue Co., Kentucky.1 Mary Ellen's father was William B. Underwood and her mother was Jane Linville. Her paternal grandparents were Green Berry Underwood and Mary Rachel Sprowls; her maternal grandparents are Preston Linville and Mary Salsman. She had ten brothers and four sisters, named John G., William Albert, Arthur, Oscar, Gerald, Barney, Richard, Edgar, Elmer, Morgan, Adaline, Sarah Alice, Arilda Ethel and Maude. She died at the age of 93 on March 17th, 1974 in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana.1 General Notes
