His paternal grandparents were Asa Barton Snider and Ann Uley. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Earl Avery, Barton, Annetta Cornelia, Mary Ellen and Clara Alice. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 76 on November 7th, 1929 in Altus, Jackson Co., Oklahoma.
