Jane was born in 1804 in Hardin Co., Kentucky.1 Jane's father was James Skaggs and her mother is Hannah Holbrook. Her paternal grandfather was Henry Skaggs and her paternal grandmother is Berry Skaggs. She had five brothers and a sister, named George, Henry Benton, Jesse, Stephen, James,Jr. and Elizabeth.
