John Newton Miller 
John Newton was born on December 20th, 1890 in Gardner, Rapides Parish, Louisana.1 John Newton's father was Josiah S. Miller and his mother is Eliza Theodocia Swindall. His paternal grandparents were Josiah Miller and Mary Patience Smith. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Samuel Josiah, James Travis, Jesse, Joel, Arthur Lee, Edwin Bethard, Sarah Emma and Francis Elizabeth. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 78 on January 12th, 1969 in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Lousiana. He was buried in Burrough Cemetery, Elmer, Rapides Parish, Louisana.1 1 General Notes
