Eliza Jane was born on November 18th, 1847 in Horry Co., South Carolina.1 Eliza Jane's father was John A. Johnson and her mother was Margaret Ann Johnston McQueen. Her maternal grandfather was William J. McQueen and her maternal grandmother is Susannah Graham. She had three brothers and four sisters, named William F., John Quince, Matthew H., Mary Elizabeth, Sarah, Margaret Susannah and Dorcas L. J.. She was the third oldest of the eight children.
