Nellie Ruth was born on August 31st, 1897 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.1 Nellie Ruth's father was Austin Leon Hill and her mother was Maria Elizabeth 'Mamie E' Hanill. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Porter Hill and Pernecy Wheeler. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William Hamill, Paul, Hallie and Helen Clara. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 67 on February 16th, 1965.1 General Notes
