James Hughes Gilliland 
James Hughes was born in 1874 in Cowley Co., Kansas.1 James Hughes' father was John H. Gilliland and his mother was Margaret Snider. His maternal grandparents were John Snider and Mary Blount. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Thomas David, Charles Henry, Robert Hamilton, Guy G., Amos Franklin, Lillie May, Mary Alice, Elizabeth Margaret, Julia Ann, Eliza Ellen and Nellie Rose. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died in Scott City, Kansas.1 General Notes
