Mary Eliza was born in March 1867 in Gauseville, Florida.1 Mary Eliza's father was William Reuben Gause and her mother is Rebecca Ann Cason. Her paternal grandparents are Joseph W. Gause and Mary Ann Grissett. She had nine brothers and a sister, named George William, Joseph Duvall, Van Boklin, Marshall Bell, Charles Albany, Thomas Olen, Frank Jefferson, Robert Edwin, Samuel Fletcher and Lettie Olimthus.-
