Elisha "Mel" Marion was born in 1855 in Sunfish, Kentucky.1 Elisha "Mel" Marion's father was Gabriel French and his mother was Elizabeth Ann Gatton. His paternal grandparents were Elisha M French and Mary E Payne; his maternal grandparents are James Gatton and Mary Newton. He had six brothers and seven sisters, named James Edward, George William, John Thomas, Austin, Charles Francis, Gabriel, Mary Ellen, Theresa, Sarah, Ruth, Margaret, Emily and Martha Frances. He died at the age of 40 in 1895 in Sunfish, Kentucky.1 General Notes

here French's came into KY and circuit Priest held Mass in home of the fam
ily in area. the three brothers- Stephen, Raphiel and (believe Gabriel) S
tephen went on to Illinois - Stephen is Tom French's line -James Jacob
