James Purvis was born on May 2nd, 1878.1 James Purvis' father was Thomas Melmoth Clayton Davidson and his mother was Emma Purvis. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Davidson and Emma Selina Hart. He has a brother and two sisters, named Thomas Leonidas, Ludy Whitaker and Emma Asile. He is the second youngest of the four children.
