Martha was born in BUCKINGHAM CO, VA.¹ Martha's father was Rene Chastain and her mother was Martha Guerrant. Her paternal grandparents were Pierre Chastain and Mildred Archer. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Isham, Joseph, Lewis, William, John, Jacob, Rhoda, Elizabeth, Mildred and Judith.¹
