Her paternal grandparents were Robert Brashear and Sarah Rhea Hankins; her maternal grandparents were James Monroe Bassham and Arta M. Holloway. She had seven brothers and eight sisters, named Diocleshion W., Robert Washington, Jessie John Rankin, William Walter, James Basham, Isaac Jackson, Reuben Dobbin, Artisa Miney, Sarah Jane 'Sally', Martha Ann, Matida Lucinda, Catherine Adeline, Mary Angeline "Polly", Caroline Malissa and Malinda K.. She was the second oldest of the sixteen children. She died at the age of 91 on December 10th, 1923.1 General Notes
