Rebecca C. was born about 1873 in Tennessee.1 Rebecca C.'s father was William G. Bassham and her mother was Mariah E. (Fanny) Unknown. Her paternal grandparents were Reuben Bassham and Rebecca Unknown. She had three brothers and a sister, named James Francis, Grace, Willie and Mary G.. She was the second oldest of the five children.
