Veda Mae was born about 1907 in Rising Star, Eastland Co., Texas.1 Veda Mae's father was Lindsey William (Shorty) Basham and her mother was Fanny Belle Warren. Her paternal grandparents were Henry William Basham and Elizabeth Nancy Greer. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Lottie Ethel, Willis William, Nettie Emma, Maggie Fay, Fairy Elizabeth and Mary Beatrice. She is the oldest of the seven children.General Notes
