James Mage (Major) was born about 1876 in Morgan Co., Alabama.1 James Mage (Major)'s father was William D. Bassham and his mother was America V. Cobb. His paternal grandparents were Nathan Bassham and Cathrine Unknown. He had two brothers and a sister, named William Lindsey, Nathan T. and Martha E. (Mattie). He was the youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother named Horace. He died about 1937 in Shreveport, Caddo Co., Louisiana.1 General Notes
