Helen L. was born about May 1900 in Kentucky.1 Helen L.'s father was Finous Basham and her mother was Frona Elizabeth Bivins. Her paternal grandparents were Jeremiah Henderson Basham and Sarah Ellen Higgs. She had a brother and a sister, named Oliver and Beulah. She was the oldest of the three children.
