Nellie Mae was born on October 14th, 1906.1 Nellie Mae's father was Elijah B. Allen and her mother was Mary Jane Underwood. Her maternal grandfather was George W. Underwood and her maternal grandmother is Julia A. Hazlewood. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Leander A., Orville, William Curtis, Roxie Ermine, Lucinda and Cassie Truman. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She died at the age of 86 on January 10th, 1993.1 General Notes
