JOHN Muncey 
JOHN was born on October 24th, 1660 in Essex, Ipswich, Massachusets.1 JOHN's father was Frances Muncy and his mother was HANNAH Adams. His maternal grandparents were WILLIAM Adams and FRANCES *Walford. He had a brother named Samuel. He was the older of the two children. He died in Brookhaven, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.1 General Notes

Estle Pershing Muncy's book, "The Muncys in the new World", 1988, page 2. John Muncy, (no. 200) married Hannah Brewster (no. 200) in Brookhaven, Long Island. They are known to have had three sons, John, Francis II (no. 300) and Nathaniel (Shaw, 1956). On February 14, 1691, JOHN MUNCY sent for his brother-in-law,Timothy Brewster, told him he was near death, and gave him a verbal will, stating, "to my son, John, I give one half of house and lands. To my brother Samuel, I give the other half, to take care of my other two sons. And to my wife HANNAH, nothing but what the law allows." (Shaw 1956) JOHN MUNCY died on 2-19-1691 at age 30 from pneumonia (Jacobus). His widow, HANNAH, contested the verbal will and was granted administration of the estate. HANNAH married Samuel Thompson in June 1691 (Jacobus). The reason John Muncy is not mentioned more is that he died at age 30, and his wife, with whom it appears he had a strained relationship, married by June to Samuel Thompson. Who knows what was going on! Since Tomothy Brewster, Nathaniel's son witnessed the verbal will of John, and Hannah successfully contested it, there must have been a serious strain on the marriage.

III. Nathaniel, named for his grandfather, Nathaniel Brewster.
