William J. was born on September 17th, 1845.1   William J.'s father was Thomas Locke and his mother was Esther Ann Locke.  His paternal grandfather was James Locke and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Austin; his maternal grandparents were William French Locke and Rachel Myers. He had six brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Austin M., Allen W., Asaph Allyn, William French, J. Charles, T. French, Susan, Lucie Douglas, Mary Amanda and ?.  He died at the age of 18 on June 1st, 1864.1
