Ozite was born in 1798.¹ Ozite's father was William Gilchrist and his/her mother was Suzanne Roy. His/her paternal grandparents were John Gilchrist and Beatrice Ronnald; his/her maternal grandparents were Joseph Roy dit Chaelleraut and Perrine Lacour. He/she had two brothers and eight sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Guillaume, Charles, Perine, Marie, Suzanne, Adelaide, Marie, Juliana, Victoire, Euphrosine, Absalom and Celestine.¹
